Hoe circulair is de Nederlandse economie?

On June 3rd, Circle Economy will launch the first Circularity Gap Report for the Netherlands. After Austria, the report marks the second national version of our annual Circularity Gap Report, in which we measure the circular state of the economy. The report will provide an image of how the Netherlands’ economy scores against the government’s ambition to be fully circular by 2050.

This year, we found that the global economy is only 8.6% circular. Now, how does the Netherlands compare to that global rate? Where are the circular opportunities and where is linear conduct embedded?

Closing the Dutch Circularity Gap

Our findings can help the Netherlands in achieving their goal of full circularity by 2050. What’s more, in light of the damage caused by the covid-19 pandemic, the Dutch government has the challenge of rebuilding the economy ahead of them. We call on the government to engage with our recommendations to shape the post-pandemic world. The time for action is now!
